Ferdowsi Supplementary School for children and young people Free supplementary classes, additional support for children and young people in Maths, English and Science. AND ALSO BENEFIT FROM FREE TRIPS In January 2003, we opened the first free supplementary school for Afghan and central Asian children and Young people in Lewisham. The school has been set up at the Albany Centre; Albany Centre have been extremely helpful, offering a space for our school, and giving us help and advice on setting and running the facility. The classes we offer at the Albany include mother tongue language classes; literacy and numeracy support; and courses in Afghanistan's history and culture. The school has been well attended from the outset. We have a regular core of between 50 and 65 students every week, and they are all enjoying the fruits of the extra help they are getting, both in their formal education, and by maintaining their own links to their native culture. If you would like to come to our supplementary school, citizenship, or ESOL classes take down and come to the centre at The Albany and come on Saturdays 12 to 3pm. Ferdowsi supplementary school is for young people from the ages of 5 to 16 years old. As you can see from the pictures the school has some amazing teachers and amazing students. Our qualified teachers teach our students their mother tongue language aswell as giving support to those who have difficulties in extra curriculum subjects such as Maths, English and Science.
