CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING

The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association held a Child Protection Training for its Staff and Volunteers who work at the supplementary and Extra Curriculum classes. The session was held on 29th January 2011 from 12pm to 4pm.

The Child Protection Training helped our organisation to support volunteers and staff to keep our children and young people safe when they are taking part in our activities.

The three hours sessions covered what is meant by safeguarding, identifying signs and indicators of abuse, and knowing what to do if there are concerns about a child at our organisation. The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness of the issues volunteers and staff face when working with children and young people, and we will signpost participants to further development training.

We worked through describing procedures and good practice relating to particular steps in the safeguarding process.
The session provided alot of information to our staff and volunteers including handouts pack including contact numbers in case of emergencies such as the Children Social Care’s Referral & Assessment Team.

Hopefully with the training they have received, they will be able to deal with any situation they come across and the organisation will become more sustainable in dealing with any issues at hand effectively.
